ORA L. MCCOY
(3/16/1918 - 4/3/2005)



Ora L. McCoy, 87, of Marshalltown, IA died Sunday morning, April 3, 2005, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. He died resulting from a head injury caused by a fall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Estel Perrin Avey Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Spight officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Ora was born on March 16, 1918 to Logan and Helen (Grabowski) McCoy in Downing, Missouri. He was born in a log cabin with dirt floors that his grandfather had built. He attended country schools, including a rural log cabin school and Bible Grove High School in Bible Grove, Missouri.

In Lancaster, Missouri on August 1, 1941 he was united in marriage to Reta Corwin. On August 1, 2004 they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They farmed together for 25 years in Vienna Township, Marshall County. Ora was employed by the Marshall County Highway Department, J.I. Case Equipment Company, he was an active member and insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance Agency and raised Pioneer seed corn. He was active and past president of the Tall Corn Trail Riders, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed traveling.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Arthur, Cecil and James; and three sisters, Edith, Ester and Mabel.

Surviving are his wife Reta; son Dennis (Kathy) McCoy of Poland, Ohio; sister, Erma and brother, John.
