To this union, one daughter, Mary Helen, was born. She passed away January 2, 1994, after a long battle with cancer.

Frances accepted the Lord Jesus when she was 11 years old. She became a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Gorin, to which she was faithful as long as she was able. She taught a Sunday School class for many years and enjoyed working with young people, especially the Girl’s Auxiliary and both with foreign and home missions. Frances was always helping others and doing things for the betterment of the community.

Frances always enjoyed her family, her church work, and especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening, working with flowers, and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; great aunt and uncle; step-mother, Ida; three brothers: Leland, Leonard, and Harvey Kenneth Cain; one step-sister, Lorraine McDaniel; a step-brother, Kenneth Hutchinson; and two brothers-in-law: Kendell and Kenneth James Shacklett.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Bill Ebling; grandson, Larry George Ebling and wife Vicki of Reed Springs, MO; twin granddaughters, Laura Ann Shaw and husband Leon of Gorin and Lori Jan Howell and husband Gary of Gorin; great-grandchildren: Sally Marie Shannan of Baring, Scott Mikel Ebling and fiancé Denise and mother Janie Ebling, Julie Frances Shaw and Jamie Leann Shaw, all of Gorin; great-great-grandchildren Benjamin Paul Shannan and Claire Marie Shannan of Baring; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Helen Cain of Galesburg, IL, and Madeline Shacklett of Ottumwa, IA; many cousins, nieces, nephews, her church family and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services were held March 31, 2005, at the Gorin Baptist Church with Brother Lee Oliver officiating. Special music was provided by Marsha Davis and Terry Sommers. Ronnie Boyer, Alvin Howard, Rodney Day, Mark Glasscock, Allen Fitzgerald, and Dean Davis served as pallbearers. Kerry Parks, Larry Tague and Allen Peterson served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Gorin Cemetery.
