Blaine Dallas Harris, 82, of Burlington, IA, died April 28, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.

Born March 8, 1923 at rural Downing, Missouri, he was one of nine children of John Glenn and Kate B. Farley Harris. On June 28, 1942 he married Marjorie M. Shannan of Mt. Sterling, Iowa in Kahoka, Missouri.

Mr. Harris attended Granger, Missouri schools and graduated from Burlington High School. He was employed 40 years with Silas Mason-Mason & Hangar both in Middletown and Amarillo, Texas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

A former member of the Burlington Bees Board of Directors, he was also associated with the Western Little League and a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Harris of Burlington; two daughters, Bonita (John) Chandler of Fort Myers, Florida and Robin Champion of Amarillo, Texas; one son, Douglas (Cindy) Harris of Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandchildren; Sean Chandler of Douglasville, Georgia, Eric (Danielle) Harris of Newark, Delaware, and Travis Champion of Amarillo, Texas; one great granddaughter; Kaitlin Shannan Harris of Newark, Delaware; three brothers, Max (Ida) Harris of Davenport, Lowell (Rose) Harris of Alpha, Illinois, and Glenn (Rosa) Harris of Burlington; and two sisters, Nedra (Don) Kinyon of Guttenburg and Morna Darrah of Burlington.

His parents; two brothers, Robert Harris and Leon Harris; and one sister, Ladene Peterson preceded him in death.

The funeral for Mr. Harris was May 3, 2005 at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial was in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
