CARMELLA GRACE ZOE (DENNIS) PEPPARD
(8/15/1917 – 7/12/2005)



Carmella Grace Zoe (Dennis) Peppard, 87, St. Joseph, MO, passed away July 12, 2005, at a St. Joseph, MO hospital.

Carmella was born August 15, 1917, in Milan, MO, to Roy and Buna (Clemens) Moore.

She spent her childhood primarily in St. Joseph, MO, with an uncle and aunt, Tom and Edna Dennis.

She was a graduate of Lafayette High School, where Carmella was the first Sponsor Major of the school’s ROTC Program.

She married Joseph L. Peppard in 1937. She played violin in St. Joseph Civic Orchestra. She was employed in sales by Hirsch’s Clothing, and was manager of Shakespeare & Co. Books in St. Joseph. She and her husband owned and operated Peppard’s Tavern in St. Joseph from 1977 through 1983.

She was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, in St. Joseph and attended various United Methodist Churches throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph L. Peppard; her son, J. Dennis Peppard; and three brothers, Leonard, Elroy and Pete Moore.

Carmella is survived by her daughter, Patricia J. Peppard of the home; two sons, William T. Peppard and wife, Jean of Dover, DE and Arthur David Peppard and wife, Kelly of Queen City, MO; daughter-in-law, Debra Peppard of Cumming, GA; two granddaughters, Heather Peppard of Newark, DE, and Melissa Peppard of Cumming, GA; two grandsons, William T. Peppard, Jr. of Dover, DE, and Brian Peppard of Cumming, GA; one great-granddaughter, Emily Peppard of Dover, DE; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held July 16, 2005, at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, MO. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
