Hazel Elizabeth Reed, 96, of Memphis, formerly of Gorin, passed away July 22, 2005, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.
She was born the daughter of Frank L. and Sarah E. (Jackson) Monroe on June 25, 1909 in Memphis, MO.
Hazel was united in marriage to Ernest Theodore “Ted” Reed. He preceded her in death in 1955.
To this union one son was born, who passed away in infancy.
Hazel spent most of her life in Gorin, except for a few years that she and Ted lived in Kansas City. She graduated from the Gorin High School and spent her early years working as a clerk in a grocery store and later as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, animals, and cooking.
She was a member of the Gorin United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, two brothers: George and John Monroe, and a sister, Anna Monroe.
She is survived by a host of family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2005, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis. Inurnment will be in the Gorin Cemetery.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the Gorin Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Chapel from their Memphis chapel.
