JUDITH ANN PETERSON
(8/27/1939 – 8/13/2005)



Judith Ann Peterson, 65, of Rutledge, MO, passed away August 13, 2005, at the home of her granddaughter in rural Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Tommy Gardner and Ida Louise (Harms) Winterton, she was born on August 27, 1939 in Rochelle, IL.

She attended Franklin Grove and Rochelle High School.

On June 11, 1956, she was married to Eugene Engelbrecht in St. Patrick’s Parish in Dixon, IL. To this union six children were born.

For nine years Judi owned and operated Judi’s City Café in Franklin Grove. In 1983, she moved to Scotland County, MO.

On May 8, 1993, she was married to Frances “Randy” Peterson. They resided in Rutledge, MO.

Judi helped her daughter, Kelly in her restaurant in Memphis. She enjoyed gardening, canning and pickling, crossword puzzles, and reading. Judi loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Rutledge New Testament Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on May 1, 1999; and her brother-in-law, James Taylor.

Survivors include her children, Kim and husband, Michael Tucker of Dixon, IL, Timothy Engelbrecht and wife, Tina of El Paso, TX, Thomas Engelbrecht and wife, Cindy of Quincy, IL, Kelly Nelson and husband, Rick of Arbela, MO, John Engelbrecht and wife, Teri of Rutledge, MO, and Jeffrey Engelbrecht of Rutledge, MO; four step-children, Tammy, Fred, Jennifer and John Paul; 16 grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pattie Roop of Loves Park, IL, Caryn and husband, Robert Huber of Ft. Atkinson, WI, and Carol Taylor of Earlville, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held August 16, 2005, in the Rutledge New Testament Church in Rutledge, MO, with Pastor Jim Brown officiating. Special music was provided by LaMayra Brown, vocalist. Serving as pallbearers were Lance Taylor, Eric Engelbrecht, Gregory Engelbrecht, Michael Tucker, Mark Tucker, Trent Huber, and Jacob Roop. Burial was in the Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, MO.

Memorials have been suggested to the family and can be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 South Main, Memphis, MO 63555. Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Peterson’s family via email at gerths@gerths.com. Arrangements were under the direction of Gerth Funeral Service from their Memphis chapel.
