MARTHA B. EAGON
(6/27/1906 - 10/7/2005)



Martha Beatrice Eagon, 99, of Macon, MO, formerly of Kahoka, passed away October 7, 2005 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.

She was born June 27, 1906 in Wayland, MO, a daughter of Sampson and Virginia Mae Brammer Eagon.

She married Oscar Mooney and they had three children: Joseph, Mildred, and Mary.

Martha graduated from high school in Campbell, MO. She went on to graduate from Culver Stockton College. She began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse and went on to teach in several Clark County schools. At the time of her retirement, after 32 years, she was teaching special education at Running Fox.

She was a member of the Kahoka Christian Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of M.S.T.A. and Missouri Retired Teachers. She enjoyed growing flowers, traveling, embroidering, quilting and crocheting. She especially loved being with her family.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Mooney and his wife, Grace, of Lake Wales, Florida; two daughters, Mildred Syferd and her husband, Scottie, of Macon, MO and Mary Justice of Memphis, MO; a sister, Ethel Mae Dunn of Kahoka, MO; ten grandchildren: Don and Linda Syferd of Fayette, MO, Jo Dean and Patty Mooney of Lake Wales, FL, Pam Ulry of Reed Springs, MO, Debbie and Steve Doggett of Lakeville, MN, Marsha and Kenny Monroe of Memphis, MO, Willis and Allison Mooney of Elwood, IL, Rick and Gini Justice of Independence, MO, Tony and Amy Justice of Harrisburg, MO, Jobe and Cindy Justice of Memphis, MO, and Cindy and Mark Antel of Lancaster, MO; 42 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary McCoy and Ada Eagon; a son-in-law, Leland Justice; three grandchildren, Loretta Mooney, and Stanley and Bud Justice; and three great-grandchildren, Thomas Justice, Timothy Syferd, and Christopher Justice.

Funeral services were held October 11, 2005 at the Kahoka Christian Church with Rev. Stephen Doggett, Rev. Tom Rea, and Rev. Dick Clifford officiating. Mrs. Joan Ball was organist and Mrs. Carol Brookhart, soloist.

Honorary pallbearers were Aaron “Chip” Syferd, Todd Ulry, Brandon Ulry, Brian Mooney, and Sean Justice.

Pallbearers were Don Syferd, Jo Dean Mooney, Willis Mooney, Rick Justice, Tony Justice, and Jobe Justice.

Burial was in Frazee Cemetery.

Memorials were suggested to the Kahoka Christian Church.
