After retiring from bus driving, the Petersons moved to the Senior Housing in Kahoka, where they managed the apartments and lawn, until Vic’s health deteriorated. Leota cared for Vic for many years.

In December 1993, Leota entered the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO and was the first resident in the new RCF when it was built. She enjoyed her apartment for almost seven years, before she fell and broke a hip and had to enter the Nursing Home again, where she received loving care and attention.

Nieces, Delores Hauser Sims, Delia Hauser Priebe, and the late Joyce Hauser Heinze, enjoyed many happy visits during the summers with Uncle Vic and Aunt Leota.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother, two nephews, and two nieces.
