Dorothy Barbara Scott, 83, of Macon, formerly of Kirksville and Gorin, passed away October 24, 2005 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

She was born the daughter of Clessian and Bessie (Glidewell) Conner on January 22, 1922, in Detroit, MI.

Dorothy married Joseph Edson Scott on May 23, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1980.

She moved from Detroit to Chicago in April of 1946. Joseph and Dorothy moved to Alexandria, MO, in 1959 and to Gorin in April of 1962.

Dorothy was a member of the Gorin Baptist Church, and was active in church activities. She especially enjoyed singing and music.

Dorothy lived in Gorin until 1998 when she moved to Kirksville. In 2002 she moved to the Macon Health Care Center, where she enjoyed participating in their activities.

Above all, Dorothy loved her family.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; brothers, William, Richard, and Julian; and a sister, Rosella.

She is survived by: her daughter, Vivian, and son-in-law, Nick Jensen, of Concord, CA; her son, Tim, and his wife, Felicia Scott, of Kirksville, MO; step-grandchild, Cassie Peck of Kirksville; a stepson, Perry, and his wife, Gloria Scott, of Lyndon, IL; several step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services were held on October 27, 2005 in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with the Reverend John Davison officiating. Special music was provided by Ann Luther, organist and Schelle Cooley, soloist. Serving as pallbearers were Larry Tague, Ronnie Boyer, Alvin Howard, Jakie Peterson, Mark Glasscock, and Johnny Erickson. Burial was in the Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, MO.

Memorials have been suggested to the Gorin Cemetery or to the Gorin Baptist Church and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
