Second Quarter Spells Doom For Scotland County

A 27-8 second-quarter run blew open a relatively close game as South Shelby defeated the Tigers 83-51 on January 11th.

Scotland County had kept the game close early on, trailing 18-13 at the end of the first quarter. But the wheels came off in the following period as the Cardinals blew the game open.

The big halftime lead held up despite a solid second-half performance from the Tigers, who were outscored 38-30 in the final 16 minutes.

Matt Wickert cashed in for 20 points to top the SCR-I scorebook. Cody Musgrove added nine points for the Tigers, who fell to 1-10 on the season. Ty Gough scored 23 to help the Cardinals improve their record to 7-5.
