South Shelby Sends SCR-I Lady Tigers to Third Straight Defeat

The Scotland County Lady Tigers finished up a brutal stretch of the schedule at South Shelby January 11th with a 69-49 loss to the Lady Birds. SCR-I dropped its third straight game, going up against Clark County and Palmyra before taking on the undefeated South Shelby squad.

The Lady Tigers fell behind early as South Shelby jumped out to a 22-13 lead in the first eight minutes. SCR-I faired better in quarter number two, pouring in 17 points. However Scotland County did not have an answer on the defensive end as the Lady Birds (12-0) continued to roll to a 43-30 halftime lead.

Neither team faired as well offensively in the second half, but South Shelby still outscored SCR-I 14-8 in the third period. The final eight minutes were fairly even, but it was academic as the home team cruised to the easy win.

Ali Fromm led Scotland County (5-6) with 14 points while Ashley Ellison had a season-high 10 points. Cody Chinn scored 23 points to pace South Shelby.
