Lady Tigers Survive Senior Night Scare

The Scotland County Lady Tigers rallied from a first-half deficit to defeat Schuyler County 65-55 and even the teamís conference mark at 3-3 heading into the league finale at Brookfield.

The Rams opened up a 14-10 lead in the first quarter as the Tigersí seniors played their final contest in front of the home crowd.

The Lady Tigers trimmed the deficit to 28-27 at halftime as Jamie Fuller came off the bench for a strong second quarter.

Scotland County began to pull away in the third period. A three pointer by Ali Fromm made the score 39-32 with 3:49 left in the third quarter. The lead grew to nine points when Brittney Courtright scored on a nice pass from Ashlee Frederick to make the score 46-37 to end the third period.

SCR-I built a double-digit advantage to open the fourth period. But the Ramsí Tahnee Poe would not let her team go quietly. The freshman hit six three pointers on the night including a couple early in the fourth period that brought her team within striking distance.

But SCR-I would have nothing to do with it. The Lady Tigers clamped down on defense and put the game away down the stretch to prevail 65-55.

Fromm finished with 24 points, including four three pointers. Fuller closed out the night with 12 points and Rebecca Consbrock added eight points. Frederick and Valerie Crawford contributed with seven points each as SCR-I improved to 15-8 and 3-3 in the Tri-Rivers Conference.
