Little Paws Pom Pon Squad Receives Awards

On February 26th, the Scotland County Little Paws Pom Pon competition squad traveled to St. Charles, to compete in the Missouri State Dance Championship competition. The team came home with a Superior Award for their performance in the Pom category and a first place trophy for their performance in the Novelty category. The novelty routine was the infamous “Basketball Routine”. Although the team was thrilled to receive the first place trophy, the team was most proud of the crowd’s response to their performance for this routine. The cheers, comments, and especially the standing ovation that they received were the highlight of the day for the competition squad and their coach, Marie Brown. The standing ovation was the only one given to any team during the entire day.

Marie Brown was recognized for her service as a coach for the past 26 years. Also, several of the girls were recognized with academic excellence certificates and medals.

The competition squad consists of Megan Walker (captain), Amanda Watkins (co-captain), Jacqui Drummond, Ashley Ellison, Nicole Dice, Lacey Williams, Kelli McBee, Jamie Fuller, Kelsey Caldwell, Amanda Parks, Trisha Harvey, Jennifer Briggs, PeJaye Brown, Megan Westhoff, Sidney Priebe, and Lacey Jack. Anna Buckallew is the team’s manager.
