SCR-I Golfers Beat Putnam County To Win First Home Match

It wasn’t perfect golfing weather, but the Scotland County golf team opened its home season March 31 at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Memphis and prevailed despite cloudy and windy conditions.

The Tigers varsity squad finished the round with a score of 159 to beat Putnam County by 26 strokes.

Zach McBee and Kyle Lister each carded a 36 to tie for individual medalist honors. McBee started slowly, but turned his game around by making birdie on two of the last four holes. Lister had five pars and one birdie. Matt Wickert was one shot off the pace with a 37. Marcus Shalley turned in a round of 43 to round out the varsity team score. Joe Spurgeon carded a 44.

The Tigers junior varsity team finished with a 189 to easily beat the Putnam County second squad, which scored a 220.

Logan Trueblood led the way with a 41 followed by Travis Trueblood with a 47. Tommy Ross shot a 50 and Colby Brown had a 51. Jesse Mattingly turned in a round of 53.

Other SCR-I golfers participating were Dustin Roach (48), Micheal Monroe (44), Kyle Hoskinson (60), Andy Cowell (43), Patrick Mutchler 70), Patrick Parsons (66), and Aaron Shaffer (75).
