Tigers Track Team Takes Eighth Place at Clark County Relays

The Scotland County boys track team finished in eighth place at the Clark County Relays held April 15th in Kahoka. SCR-I racked up 49 points as a team.

Putnam County bested the 12-team field by amassing 140 points to edge out Monroe City (116.5). South Shelby (73) took third followed by Highland and Schuyler County which tied for fourth place with 66 points. Clark County finished just ahead of the Tigers with 53 points. Scotland County finished ahead of Palmyra (33.5), North Shelby (5), Canton (0) and Knox County (0).

A large part of the Tigers points came in field events. Greg Neagle picked up third place in the shot put. Neagle and Tim Robinson finished fourth and fifth in the discus. Neagle threw the discus 113’9” while Robinson’s best toss was 110’3”. Robinson also earned fifth place points in the long jump clearing 17’5”. B.J. Houghton took eighth place in the triple jump.

The runners did their part as well. Casey Parrish finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run. Chris Humes took sixth place in the 200-meter dash and Lance Norton finished seventh in the 800-meter run.

The Tigers picked up fifth place points in the 4x200-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.
