Calcutta Winners Set Course Record at Timber Ridge

A month after one record was broken at Timber Ridge Golf Course another mark fell on July 17 at the annual Calcutta event at the Memphis country club.

The four-man team of Dave Shalley, Andy Boyer, Mark Drummond and Kyle Briscoe won the event by shooting a 20-under par round of 48 to eclipse the former four-player record.

It was Drummondís second record breaking performance, as he and his father Mike had established the best-ever score for a two-player event, scoring a 15-under par 53 in the Fatherís Day Tourney June 18th.

Thirteen teams braved the heat to play in the 27-hole event. The four-man squads played nine holes before breaking for the Calcutta. The 13 teams were broke into two flights based on their score over the first nine holes. They then competed in an 18-hole tournament.

Shalley, Drummond, Boyer and Briscoe finished the first round nine under, before going on the record-setting pace, finishing 10-under par on both the front and back nine. Overall they finished 29-under par with a round of 73 on the 27 holes.

Second place in the championship flight went to Roger Grant, Roger Robinson, Wes Smith and Rich Looten who shot a 77.

In the A flight, first place went to the team of Bolick, Rogers, Boone and Boone with an 89. Vogel, Adkisson, Horn and Sherrod earned second place with a 90.
