Lady Tigers Pound Knox County 17-2

Seven is considered by many as a lucky number. It definitely was advantageous for the SCR-I softball team September 1st as the Lady Tigers scored seven runs in an inning, not once, but twice in a 17-2 rout of Knox County in Edina.

Scotland County held a 2-0 lead heading into the third inning when the Lady Tigers batted around to blow the game open with seven runners crossing the plate.

The lucky number came into play again in the sixth frame when SCR-I again batted around to close out the contest by the 15-run rule.

Kirsten Johnston, Kellyn Wickert and Ali Fromm each had two hits in the winning effort. Valerie Oldham continued to be a tough out off the bench, going 2-2.

Karra Small improved to 2-2 on the year as she went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits. She struck out 12.
