Green City Uses 20-Point Swing To Hand SCR-I Its First Loss

Scotland County looked poised to move to 4-0 on the season and bring home the championship trophy from the Novinger Tournament. The Lady Tigers held a 10-point lead at halftime. But Green City used a 20-point turn around to knock off SCR-I 45-38.

Scotland County fell behind 9-5 early in the game. Kirsten Johnston jump started the offense in the second period, scoring 10 points during a 19-5 run that put the Lady Tigers on top 24-14 at the intermission.

The Lady Gophers trimmed the deficit to 30-29 as Cloe Phillips scored eight of her game-high 18 points to bring her team back.

Green City completed the comeback and then built a double-digit lead midway through the fourth period as Scotland County could not get rolling on offense.

Chelsey Rouse iced the game for Green City, making seven-of-eight free throws down the stretch.

Johnston led Scotland County (3-1), with 14 points. Ali Fromm finished with 10 points.
