Theater To Host Showing Of ‘The Last Farewell’

“The Last Farewell”, is the documented story of the last known Grand Army of the Republic funeral and burial of Civil War soldier, Corporal John Peyton Byrne.

This first time showing on a theater screen is being coordinated by the film company, Guardian Angels Video Services and the Memphis Community Players at the Memphis Theater. There will be no admission charge, however the concession stand will be open for purchases.

The doors to the theater will open at 1:00 p.m. on January 29. “Bring John Home” coordinators and film players will greet the viewers, welcoming them for the 1:30 p.m. showing.

Randy Dickerman and Dustin Hall of Guardian Angels Video Services will have “The Last Farewell” DVD available for purchase.

Also available for purchase will be commemorative t-shirts and other memorabilia from the event held last May.

This comprehensive documentary gives you a powerful account of the events of Corporal Byrne’s life. A compelling story of a man, husband, and father who fought in the Civil War and after his death in 1920 had been lost and forgotten. For 84 years he had not been buried or commemorated until his 4th great-niece took the steps to claim his cremains and bring him home.

It records how a town comes together as one, to help restore it’s history and to show the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Guardian Angel Video Services’ tribute to our nation’s spirit will move you, inspire you, and leave an impression that no one in our Armed Forces will ever be forgotten.

Guardian Angel Video Services has already received the 2005 Aegis National award in the category of “Winner for Best Documentary” for “The Last Farewell”.
