Care Center Adds New Rehabilitation Service

Residents at the Scotland County Care Center are getting a new outlook on life, and they are getting it from a new source. The nursing home recently joined forces with RehabCare Group, Inc. which will provide a multitude of rehabilitation services for residents of the Memphis facility.

RehabCare Group began providing services at the care center on January 25. Currently five staff members are assigned to the nursing home for regularly scheduled visits to provide physical, occupational and speech therapies for the residents.

Cody Kite, a physical therapist assistant, is the local program director. Other staff members are physical therapist Sanjee Ang, occupational therapist Farrah Laborte-Santos, certified occupational therapist assistant Karen Hoenig, and speech and language pathologist Marcia Kantola.

The group works to develop individualized therapy programs based on the residents’ needs. They also offer specialty programs that address such areas as dementia, low vision, and restorative nursing.

“While cheerfully working with residents in a caring way and quietly making acquaintances, RehabCare Group has made the recent change in providers a painless one for the Scotland County Care Center and the residents,” stated Brenda Wilson of SCCC.

RehabCare Group, Inc. was founded in St. Louis in 1982. The company has grown to become the nation’s largest provider of physical rehab services.

The dedicated staff provides rehab services to those who have experienced injury or illness such as stroke, amputation, orthopedic impairment, neurological disorder, cardiopulmonary dysfunction, and other general medical problems.

Currently the company provides services in 38 states as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. RehabCare Group’s more than 9,600 associates go to work in more than 930 hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, providing services within inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing and home health settings.

“Scotland County Care Center extends a warm welcome to the staff and members of RehabCare Group,” Wilson stated.
