Lady Tigers Earn #1 Seed In Districts

The Missouri Class 2 District 5 coaches’ meeting last weekend brought good news for the Scotland County Lady Tigers while producing a tough road ahead for the boys team when the district tournament opens February 27th in Queen City.

The SCR-I girls earned the top seed in the seven-team field. That means an opening round bye for the highest ranked team.

SCR-I will face the winner of the Schuyler County (#4) and Princeton (#5) contest slotted for February 27th at 7:30 p.m. This semifinal game will be played at 7:30 p.m. on March 2nd.

The bottom of the girls’ bracket pits third seed Milan against sixth seed Knox County. That game will be played at 6:00 p.m. on February 28th. Canton (#2) will take on LaPlata (#7) at 4:30 p.m. on February 27th. The winners of these two games will play at 4:30 p.m. March 2nd for the right to advance to the district championship game slotted for 6:00 p.m. on March 4th.

The Tigers received the fourth seed in the boys’ bracket and will do battle with #5 Knox County in an opening round game at 4:30 p.m. on February 28th. The winner gets to face top seed Canton, which has a first round bye. That semifinal contest will tip off at 6:00 p.m. on March 2.

The rest of the bracket has third seed Schuyler County vs. sixth seed Milan at 7:30 p.m. on February 28th. LaPlata was given the #2 seed despite losses to Scotland County and two losses to Schuyler County. The Bulldogs will take on #7 Princeton at 6:00 p.m. on February 27th.
