SCR-I Among Missouri’s Most Improved Schools On MAP Test

Students in the Scotland County R-I School District are currently gearing up to take this year’s installment of the Missouri Assessment Program. The MAP tests are administered annually to students at both the high school and the elementary school.

The district recently was recognized on the MAP Most-Improved Schools list as prepared by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. DESE honors the state’s top 10 schools in percent of students moving into the “proficient” and “advanced” levels.

Scotland County R-I saw its results in the junior high communications arts test increase by 20.9 percent between 2001 and 2005 to rank the school among the 10 most-improved schools in all of Missouri.

Statewide the percentage of students moving up into the proficient and advanced scores in communication arts was 3.5 at the elementary level with a 1.7 decline at the junior high level and 0.3 increase in high school. Math went up 5.3 percent at the elementary level, 0.8 percent in junior high and 3.9 percent at the high school level.
