Scotland County Extension to Hold Garden Ní Grow Program
Garden Ní Grow is a great summer activity for children ages 9 to 13. The program encourages the discovery of science and nature through gardening. Young gardeners, guided by adult educators and Master Gardeners, plant and care for their own plots of vegetables. Gardening activities related to their chosen theme gardens teach youth new concepts and skills and promote a sense of ownership, pride and responsibility.
The Scotland County Garden Ní Grow group will meet every Tuesday and Thursday for 10 weeks starting May 30th. From May 22nd to June 25th, meetings will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Beginning June 27th, meetings will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. All meetings will be held at the garden plot located west of the Recreation Center behind Scotland County Memorial Hospital.
The class fee, which includes a Garden N Grow book and T-Shirt is $20.00 per child. To register, call the Scotland County Extension Office at 465-7255. Registra-tion deadline is May 30th.
