Gorin Man Killed In Train Accident

A Gorin man was pronounced dead at the scene of a train accident early on the morning of June 9th.

Scotland County Coroner Ginny Monroe pronounced Michael McNichols, 25, dead at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Route A and Route U in Gorin at 2:50 a.m.

According to Monroe, McNichols was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train at approximately 1:35 a.m.

The Scotland County Ambulance Service, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene as did Gorin First Responders.

McNichols body was taken to Memphis Funeral Home.
