Bible Grove Preservation Day To Be Held August 19

The 16th Annual Bible Grove Preservation Day will be observed Saturday, August 19th at the historic Bible Grove School building.

The museum room at the school will open to visitors at 10:00 a.m. with the eventís food stand opening at that time also and remaining available for guests until 5:00 p.m.

One of the eventís biggest draws, the trap shoot, will get underway at 10:00 a.m. to accommodate the large number of participants. For more information or to register to shoot, contact Lisa Wells at 883-5623.

Lunch will begin at noon with kettle beans and cornbread being served.

The Indian Creek Muzzleloaders have scheduled a black powder shoot at 1:00 p.m. For more info contact Max Hamilton at 465-2206.

At 2:00 p.m. the dime toss will begin and the jailhouse will open. There will be other entertainment for the children as well including a straw scramble. Cakes will begin walking home via the cake walk at 4:00 p.m.

The evening entertainment will follow the barbecue chicken dinner that begins at 6:00 p.m. The Harvest Band with Lonnie and Jessica Erwin will take the stage at 8:00 p.m. There will be a 50/50 drawing and raffle prizes given away at 9:00 p.m.

The Bible Grove Historical Preservation Committee encourages the community to bring their lawn chairs and join them in Bible Grove for a day of fun to help support Scotland Countyís history.

The Bible Grove School is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. All proceeds from this event will benefit the preservation of the schoolhouse.
