Marshal Suspended, Officer Resigns During City Council Special Meeting

The Memphis City Council met in executive session Tuesday, August 22nd at Memphis City Hall to discuss the hiring, firing or disciplining of personnel.

By a 4-0 vote, the council accepted the resignation of Memphis Police Officer Michelle Miller.

The council voted 4-0 to suspend Memphis City Marshal Steve Snodgrass for a period of 14 working days without pay to begin August 28th.

A statement issued by the council indicated that Snodgrass was disciplined for failure to follow a directive issued by the Memphis City Council. Earlier in the year the marshal was directed to cease and desist any involvement of the department in the traditional “senior chases” that often occurred on the first and last days of school each year.
