Downing Woman Flown From Accident Scene

A Downing woman was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday, August 16th in Adair County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Leah S. Baker, 26, was driving a 1995 Buick Park Avenue southbound on Route B approximately five miles south of Greentop at 9:00 p.m. when the accident occurred. The car drove off the roadway where the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle when it struck loose gravel. The car struck a fence and impacted the ditch where it ultimately came to rest.

Baker was wearing a seatbelt, but sustained serious injuries. She was flown from the scene by Air Evac helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Department, Adair County Ambulance Service and the Adair County Volunteer Fire Department.
