Schuyler Teens Hurt In Crash Near Memphis

Three Schuyler County teens suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 136 in Scotland County at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, August 31st.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Taylor M. Orton, 17, of Lancaster was eastbound on Highway 136 three miles east of Memphis in a 1997 Dodge pickup. The truck went off the right side of the roadway traveling down an embankment before striking a cement culvert near the entrance to Lake Show-Me.

Orton and two passengers, Jennifer B. Cantil, 15, of Downing, and Zachary W. Orton, 15, of Lancaster, also sustained minor injuries in the crash. They all three were taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis. None of the individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the ambulance service, the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department and the Scotland County Fire and Rescue Squad.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
