Lilí Memphis Blues Society To Host Concert

The Memphis city square will be rocking Saturday night as the Lilí Memphis Blues Society will host a free concert on the south lawn of the Scotland County Courthouse beginning at 6:00 p.m. on September 30th.

The local music boosters are bringing the rock and blues band Johnson & Resch to Memphis. The Quad Cities, IA, band is a recent winner of the regional Battle of the Bands Contest and was among the finalists at the national event.

The local band Cohesion will also be on stage to entertain the crowd. The band consists of Beau Becraft, Brandon Alexander, Loren Billington and Chad Trueblood.

Johnson & Resch is made up of guitarist Shane Johnson, vocalist and bass guitarist John Resch and drummer Justin Beahm. Johnson and Resch are well know to area Blues fans. Back in 1998 they were Shane Johnsonís Blue Train, winner of the Iowa Blues Challenge that year. The band split up some time after that but Johnson and Resch are now back together.

Local promoters Mike Gelbach and James Parker said the local event has been made possible by generous donations from a number of area businesses and music boosters. They encourage the public to bring their lawn chairs and/or their dancing shoes up to the square Saturday night for a fun evening.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the VFW hall.
