Pheasants Forever Banquet To Be Held Saturday Night

This Saturday evening will mark the 10th anniversary of area conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts in northeast Missouri joining together to make a difference in the region.

The Northeast Missouri Chapter of Pheasants Forever will host its 10th annual fall banquet in Memphis on November 4th at the VFW Hall. The event will mark a decade of fundraisers for the organization that helps fund local habitat and wildlife-related projects.

A social hour will start at 5:00 p.m. with guests getting their first peek at a large variety of raffles, games and auction items that will go on throughout the evening to raise money for the program.

The ticket price of $40 includes a one-year membership in Pheasants Forever and one meal. A second meal ticket for couples is just $10 and children under age 15 can also attend for just $10 which entitles them to a Ringnecks membership. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. with the auction set to kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Bidders will get an opportunity to take home a wide variety of framed prints, wildlife artwork, hunting accessories and much more.

The banquet committee also has put together a full slate of raffles and games of chance throughout the evening that will send a number of rifles and shotguns home with lucky winners.

There will be a Pick of the Auction raffle with one lucky winner getting to pick one item from the auction list prior to the start of the sale.

The committee also will have a MAD Hatter auction, selling 12 hats via live auction. One of those hats, numbered 1-12, will be selected as the winner of a Beretta 3901 Ambassador 20-guage shotgun. The MAD Candle raffle for the women, is a similar contest with eight numbered candles auctioned off for a special prize drawing that will also contain a gun this year.

Firearms will also be awarded to the winner of the youth raffle and to the two top performers in the local MDC youth hunterís safety course testing.

Raffle tickets are already on sale for the Weatherby Vanguard custom deluxe .30-06 that will be awarded to one lucky winner on Saturday evening.

Tickets will go on sale at the banquet for the popular Kill It/Grill it game that awards a gas grill, a Westernís Meat Market meat bundle and a new Knight muzzleloader to the winning ticket holder.

Black jack fans will get a chance to play a game to win the Deer Hunter Deluxe. The winner of the card game will earn a Knight Bighorn muzzleloader, a ladder deer stand and a shooting bench.

A total of 99 PF legbands will be sold at the banquet. Four winners will get to choose between a pheasant recliner, a pop-up blind, a stained glass floor lamp or a carved wood duck decoy.

Promoters point out that guests donít have to be pheasant hunters to attend. The public is encouraged to attend the event and enjoy the meal and an evening of entertaining games and a live auction.

PF exists to protect, restore, and enhance wildlife habitat by establishing and maintaining local and regional projects. The local group annually distributes food-plot seed and trees to be planted. The annual banquet has funded purchases of equipment available to members for use in planting food plants and managing CRP grounds.

The chapter also helps develop, distribute and foster conservation education by supporting the hunter safety programs and the local 4-H shooting teams.
