Memphis Community Players to Perform Friday and Saturday

The Memphis Community Players will present G.I. Holiday Jukebox: The 1940’s Stage Door Canteen by Rick Lewis at the Memphis Theatre on December 8th and 9th. The production is a musical review, U.S.O. style with the audience made up of “military personnel.”

The cast of G.I. Holiday Jukebox includes Sheila Berkowitz, Schelle Cooley, Tom and Teresa Cotton, Jeff, Trinity and Sadie Davis, Harlo Donelson, Jeff and Lynnette Dyer, Joe and Lori Fulk, Joan Hinds, Brent and Rita Karhoff, Anna Lynn Kirkpatrick, Jerri Mohr, Jo Ann Peters, Robert Schneider, Cole Tippett, and Carol Trump. The performers will dress in 1940’s vintage clothing and uniforms as well as their signature formal wear. Accompanists for the production are Sarah Cotton and Ann Luther.

Singers will croon dream-themed tunes such as “Dream” and other songs of the era, including “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” popularized by the Andrew Sisters. The group will also sing a selection of holiday music – “I’ll be Home for Christmas,” “Away in a Manager,” and “White Christmas” among others.

General admission tickets (no reserved seats) are $7.00. For more info call 465-7770, 465-8943, or 465-8924.
