Five Memphis Residents Hurt In Accident

A two-vehicle accident in Scotland County on December 5th left five Memphis residents injured. The crash occurred at 5:35 p.m. on County Road 517, two miles southeast of Memphis.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Travis L. Martin, 35, was southbound on the gravel road in a 1999 Chevrolet. The vehicle crested a hill and impacted a northbound 2003 Dodge van driven by Paula M. Montgomery, 40.

Martin suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

Montgomery and two passengers in her vehicle, Sarah Sites, 11, and Austin Smith, 12, sustained minor injuries. A third passenger in the van, Jessica Sites, 14, sustained moderate injuries. All were taken by Scotland County Ambulance to SCMH.

Montgomery was cited for no drivers license.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Both vehicles sustained total damage in the crash according to the accident report.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department, the ambulance service and the fire and rescue squad.
