Mother, Three Children Left Homeless By Fire

A mother and her three children were not home, but lost everything when fire destroyed the property they were living in northeast of Memphis on December 12th.

A neighbor reported the blaze to the Scotland County dispatch at 7:22 p.m. with reports of flames shooting through the roof of the property, which is owned by George Meinhardt.

When the Scotland County Fire Department arrived on the scene the home was completely engulfed by flames. The residence was a total loss.

The fire department was on the scene for approximately three hours.

Jessica Miller, who was renting the house, was not home at the time of the blaze. She and her three children, Alexander (age 8), Jamie (age 4) and Andrew (age 3) lost all of their possessions, including the family’s Christmas gifts.

A number of benefits are underway for the family as well as several collections.

Individuals interested in donating clothing or household items can contact Small Miracles Daycare at 660-465-2031 or drop off donations at the daycare located at 120 S. Cecil Street in Memphis.

Clothing sizes for the children are size 8 for Andrew, size 4-5 for Jamie and size 4 for Andrew.
