Filing Underway For City, School Board Jobs

Filing for the April 2007 election opened last week and a number of candidates have placed their names in the hat for the April election for municipal jobs.

Voters in the city of Memphis will elect two aldermen as well as a city marshal.

Incumbent Ron Gardner has filed for re-election for the east ward. West ward alderman Lucas Remley had not refiled for the position as of press time.

Voters will elect a city marshal to fill the final three years of the four-year term vacated by Steve Snodgrass who will resign at the end of the year.

Officer John Myers and former MPD officer Chris Van Hoozen have both filed for the position.

Filing opened December 12 and will run through January 16.

The Scotland County R-I School Board is filling up as three challengers have filed for two available seats. Incumbents Doug Shalley and David Kirkpatrick have filed for re-election along with challengers Stacey Alexander, Rich Rader and Doug Byrn.

Filing opened December 12th in the Superintendentís office. The office is closed December 19 through January 2 for winter break. Filing will re-open January 3 and run through January 16th.
