SCR-I Taking Part In 35th Annual High-land Tourney

The Scotland County basketball squads will close out 2006 and welcome 2007 at the 35th annual Highland Basketball Tournament.

The boys received the fifth seed and drew an opening round contest against fourth-seed Putnam County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30th.

The winner will advance to play top-seeded Highland, the #5 team in the latest Missouri Class 3 state polls. The Cougars drew a first round bye and will take on the winner at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd.

The loser between Putnam and Scotland County will get a bye to the consolation final game that is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5th.

The bottom of the bracket has #2 Clark County versus #7 Unity of Mendon and #3 Palmyra taking on #6 Canton with both contests scheduled for the afternoon of December 30th.

The boys’ third place game will be played Friday, January 5th at 9:00 p.m. with the championship game set for Saturday, January 6th at 7:30 p.m.

With just six teams the girls’ bracket will feature pool play.

Pool A includes top-seed Clark County, the #5 ranked team in Missouri’s Class 3 rankings. They are joined by #4 seed Highland and #5 seed Palmyra.

Pool B includes Scotland County which received the sixth seed, along with #2 Canton and #3 Putnam County.

The Lady Tigers will first take on Palmyra at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd. The following night the Lady Tigers will do battle with Canton at 5:00 p.m.

The girls’ consolation game will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5th followed by the third place game at 7:30 p.m. The girls’ championship game will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6th.
