Alfred was a highly respected life-long farmer in Clark County. He was an elk producer for the last sixteen years and very involved with getting elk domesticated in the state of Missouri. He had commented when he first got started in the business of raising elk “even if we don’t make much, we’ll still get a lot of enjoyment watching them.” And he thoroughly did.

He was a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church, served on the Clark Co. Nursing Home Board for several years, and was a member of the North American Elk Breeders Association. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was quiet and fair in whatever he did and never met a stranger. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He lived for his grandchildren and enjoyed watching his grandsons trap shoot and hearing about his granddaughter’s FFA accomplishments. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services were held January 11, 2006 at the Wyaconda Christian Church with Pastor Shawn McAfee and Mr. Norris Blount officiating. Mrs. Judy Pitford was pianist. Special music was provided by Mrs. Judy Pitford, Mrs. Jyl Anderson Cox, and Mrs. Jackie Scott.

Burial was in Wyaconda Cemetery.

Memorials were suggested to the Wyaconda Cemetery, the American Cancer Society, or the donor’s choice.
