MAURINE ROMJUE

Maurine Romjue, 95, of Memphis, MO, and formerly of LaPlata, MO, passed away February 18, 2006, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

Born February 6, 1911, near Atlanta, MO, she was the daughter of Albert Jacob and Francis (Goodding) Crawford.

On June 22, 1937 in LaPlata, MO, she married Gordon Romjue, who preceded her in death on April 8, 1988.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Finis, Carl, Hershel and Herman Crawford; and one sister, Eunice Sewell.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and LeRoy Huff of Rutledge, MO; one son, Paul Romjue of Birmingham, AL; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Lonergan, PhD and husband, Steven Lonergan, PhD of Ames, IA, and Sean Huff of Joplin, MO.

Maurine was a graduate of the Atlanta High School and attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO. She was a leader in the Home Pioneer 4-H Club, a member of the D.A.R. and was a very active member of the Community Presbyterian Church in LaPlata, MO, serving as Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years.

Funeral services were held February 22, 2006, at the Community Presbyterian Church in LaPlata, MO. Officiating was the Reverend Lou Wollenberg. Music was provided by Sara Beth Fouch, organist. Burial was in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta, MO. Pallbearers were Robert Baker, Bobby Baker, Randy Baker, Bob Jackson, Jim McHenry, and Jim Lock. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Maurine Romjue may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church. They may be left at or sent to the Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church, LaPlata, MO 63549.
