JACOB “JAKIE” PRICE PETERSON
(4/3/1929 - 4/8/2006)



Jacob “Jakie” Price Peterson, age 77, of Gorin, MO, passed away April 8, 2006, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, MO.

He was born on April 3, 1929 in Knox County, MO the son of Jacob Axel and Nancy Price Peterson.

On December 23, 1950, at Knox City, MO he was united in marriage to Virginia May Elder.

Surviving are his wife Virginia May Peterson of Gorin, MO, three children, Jacob Ronald Peterson and his wife Nancy of Gorin, MO, Patricia Lynn Peterson of Kirksville, MO, and Wallace Richard Peterson and his wife Tallulah of Washington, IA, two sisters, Virginia Holman and husband Harry of Hurdland, MO, Mary Margaret Lingenfelter and husband Robert of Hurdland, MO, three brothers, Victor Peterson and his wife Betty of Hurdland, MO, David Peterson and his wife Carol of Moline, IL, and J.B. Peterson and his wife Mary of Springfield, MO, nine grandchildren Todd Peterson and wife Angela, Grant Peterson and wife Elisha, Anne, Matt, Eric, Ben, Andy, Ella, and Greta Peterson, three great grandchildren Kaitlin, Keegan and Dylan Peterson, one sister-in-law Ellen Carpenter of Rock Island, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jakie was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother John Peterson.

Jakie was a lifelong resident of the Colony/Gorin area where he was engaged in farming. In his earlier years he enjoyed motorcycle riding and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle and The Retreads Forty Plus Group.

Jakie was a member of the Wyaconda Baptist Church, and the Knox City American Legion. He enjoyed serving and meeting the needs of other people. He was also a very avid blood donor.

Funeral services were held April 12, 2006, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. The Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiated the services. Music was provided by Harry Holman, Mary Peterson, and Angela Haworth.

Burial was in the Gorin Cemetery. Casket bearers were his grandsons, Todd Peterson, Grant Peterson, Matt Peterson, Eric Peterson, Ben Peterson, and Andy Peterson.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jacob Price “Jakie” Peterson may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, Missouri, 63537.
