WILLIAM HERBERT BUCKALLEW
(9/26/1935 – 4/17/2006)



William Herbert Buckallew, 70, of Lancaster, MO, passed away at his residence April 17, 2006.

The son of Raymond Buckallew and Edna (Clay) Buckallew Lay, he was born September 26, 1935 in Stahl, MO.

On April 7, 1952, he was united in marriage to Norma Singleton and to this union four children were born, Joeann, Herbert Jr., Sandra and Gary. On October 29, 1994, he was united in marriage to Gloria Winters.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Buckallew of Lancaster, MO; four children, Joeann Homer and husband, Ron of Greentop, MO, Herbert Junior Buckallew and wife, Vicki of Lancaster, MO, Sandra Newland and husband, Bobby of Lancaster, MO, and Gary Buckallew and wife, Dena of Macon, MO; one stepson, Tim Winters and wife, Chris of Lorain, OH; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; father, Raymond Buckallew and wife, Judy of Lancaster, MO; his mother, Edna Lay and husband, Clyde of Memphis, MO; one sister, Marie Tuttle and husband, John of Riverton, IL., and twin brothers, Darl Buckallew and wife, Leanna of Lancaster, MO, and Harl Buckallew and fiance, Linda Terrell of Lancaster, MO.

“Herb” was preceded in death by his sister, Valee Hoffner; one brother-in-law, Jack Hoffner; one sister-in-law, Eileen Buckallew; and one daughter-in-law, Rhoda Buckallew.

“Herb” was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church and had been employed with the Tri-County Electric Co-op in Lancaster, MO since the age of 16. He belonged to several organizations including Masonic Lodge #427 in Glenwood, MO, El Kadir Shrine Club, Scottish Temple of St. Joseph, MO, a 32nd degree Mason, Moose Lodge in Kirksville, MO, and an honorary member of the Schuyler County Rotary Club.

Funeral services were held April 21, 2006 at the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, MO with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Lancaster United Methodist Church officiating and assisted by Rob Green, pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church. Music was provided by accompanist, Margie Tippett and soloist, Cole Tippett. Pallbearers were Tracy Homer, Kevin Buckallew, Kelly Buckallew, Trent Small, Robbie Small, and Cameron Miller. Masonic Services were held April 20, 2006. Memorials have been established for the William Herbert Buckallew Scholarship Fund. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster.
