Veronica M. Piper, beloved wife of Eugene J. Piper of Arbela, MO, passed away at Scotland County Memorial Hospital, Memphis, MO, on April 17, 2006, at the age of 93.

Veronica was born in Webster County, IA, on July 25, 1912, the daughter of Elias and Lillian (Denton) Bricker.

She was employed by Hormel Meat Company for 22 years.

She and Eugene married on October 11, 1987, and they moved to their home at Arbela Four Corners. Eugene and Veronica enjoyed many trips with the Good Samís Club, a RV organization, as well as other trips including one to Alaska.

Veronica enjoyed their huge yard and many flowers and trees. She helped mow her yard on her own riding lawn mower until 2005. She enjoyed fishing and visiting with their many friends.

She was a faithful member of the Arbela Baptist Church, was a loving, compassionate, generous person and was loved by everyone who met her.

Her daughter, Donna, from a previous marriage, preceded her in death in February 1999.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Kathy Greenstreet, and many good friends.

The family has suggested memorials to Scotland County Memorial Hospital, which may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held April 20, 2006, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO. Cremation will be held with interment in the Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, MO, at a later date.
