Hillis H. Howard, 84, of Greenbush, IL, died May 13, 2006, in Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.

He was born March 5, 1922, in Bennett, CO, the son of Eddie and Loreita (Lancaster) Howard. He married Nellie B. Strong, January 20, 1942 in Memphis.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie; two sons, Duane Howard of Galesburg, IL, and Ron (Ginny) Howard of Rio, IL; grandchildren, Ronete Koogler of Morristown, TN, Michelle Howard of Galesburg, IL, and Ronia Mullins of Talbett, TN; three great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Howard of Arbela, MO; one sister, Arlean Berry of Memphis, MO.

He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He farmed in the Bushnell, IL area until 1963 and then worked at Maytag in Galesburg, IL until retirement at age 62 with 21 years of service. He enjoyed working on antique cars and restored several of them during his lifetime. He was a member of the Western Illinois Antique Auto Club.

Funeral services were held May 18, 2006, at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, IL, with Pastor Dave Eden officiating.
