Andrew (Andy) Bee Fountain, 81, of Downing, MO, passed away on July 10, 2006, at the Heartland Health Care Center, IL, where he had been a resident since June 20, 2006.

The son of David Clark and Doris Elizabeth (Simmons) Fountain, Andy was born on October 20, 1924 in rural Downing, MO.

He was a graduate of the Downing High School in Downing, MO.

On November 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Anna Belle Stone, who preceded him in death on December 1, 1984. To this union two sons, Terry Lynn and David Lee were born. On May 21, 1986, Andy was united in marriage to Nola Fern Fincher. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2005.

Survivors include his children, Terry Fountain and wife, Candy of Glasford, IL, and David Fountain and wife, Melissa of Windsor, CA; three step-sons, Ron McElroy and wife, Connie of Elmwood, IL, Jim McElroy and wife, Mila of Skiatook, OK and Richard Hendricks and wife, Diane of Sarasota, FL; one step-daughter, Liz Pollitt of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Rachel, Crystal, Derek and Ryan; 13 step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Erika; six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary B. Jones and husband, Donnie of Zephyrhills, FL; one sister-in-law, Norma Fountain of Branson, MO; three brothers-in-law, Jim Fincher and wife, Norma of Memphis, TN; Don Fincher and wife, Pat of Downing, MO and Kenneth Fincher and wife, Reva of Junction City, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents; both wives, Anna Belle Fountain and Nola Fern Fountain; and one brother, Max Fountain.

Andy was a lifelong resident of the Downing area except for a short time when he served in the United States Army during World War II and also spent a few years in Marshalltown, IA, where he worked in a factory. Andy owned and operated a garbage pickup route in Memphis, MO, and also drove trucks in and out of state. He was a farmer in the Downing area for many years. He served on the board for the Campground Cemetery and volunteered on the Downing Community Fire Department. He treasured the time he was able to spend with his family and friends and was always willing to help.

Graveside services were held July 13, 2006, at Campground Cemetery, southeast of Downing, MO, with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Pallbearers were Keith Jones, Ron McElroy, Derek Fountain, Nick McElroy, Doug Ruth and Rusty Anders. Honorary pallbearers were Vaughn Ruth and Tommy Anderson. Memorials have been established for the Campground Cemetery or Relay for Life. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
