VIRGINIA M. LEWIS
(7/16/1911 – 9/4/2006)



Virginia M. Lewis, 95, of Downing, MO, passed away on September 4, 2006, at Frankfort Care Center in West Frankfort, IL.

The daughter of Thomas Mark and Ollie Mae (Neeley) Hardin, she was born on July 16, 1911, in Lancaster, MO.

In June 1933, she was united in marriage to Charles Hulen, Jr., who preceded her in death in August 1952. To this union three daughters were born Carolyn, Jean, and Charlotte. On September 12, 1957, she was united in marriage to Estelle Roscoe Lewis who also preceded her in death on March 18, 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Saulsbury of West Frankfort, IL, and Charlotte Lauridsen of Altoona, IA; one step-son, Bill Lewis and wife, Evelyn of Clay Center, KS; 10 grandchildren, Jane Murphy, Jan Farkas, Julie Smith, Robin Edwards, Belinda Jo Lauridsen, Douglas Lauridsen, Michelle McKibben, David Ingram, John Ingram, and Jeffery Ingram; five step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; and a host of friends,

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and David Ingram; two sons-in-law, Bob Saulsbury and Earl Lauridsen; one great-grandson, Clinton James Edwards; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel and Hurley Waddle, Ruth and Larue Simmons and Mary Mildred (Dottie) and Forrest Slavin; one niece; one nephew; and two step-daughters, Dottie Lewis and Beverly Birk.

Virginia was a faithful member of the Community Christian Church, Royal Neighbors and Rebekah’s Lodge of Downing, MO, as long as her health permitted. Virginia was a homemaker for her family whom she treasured dearly.

Funeral services were held September 8, 2006, at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO, with Pastor David Barton officiating. Music was provided by organist, Maureen Watkins and soloist, Schelle Cooley. Pallbearers were Doug Lauridsen, Jeffery Ingram, Brian Sauders, David Ingram, John Ingram, and Tim Slavin. Memorials have been established for Arni Memorial Cemetery. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
