KEITH D. YOUNG
(9/4/1946 – 10/27/2006)



Keith D. Young was born September 4, 1946 in Kirksville, MO, the son of Ralph Carlton and Evelyn (Riddington) Young and passed away at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO on October 27, 2006.

Keith attended school in Scotland County, MO, and graduated from Memphis High School with the class of 1964. He joined the United States Navy in August of 1964 and was honorably discharged in December 1972.

He and his family moved to Cedar Rapids, IA, where he worked for the Duane Arnold Energy Center Nuclear Power Plant for over 30 years. He retired from Duane Arnold in 2003 and joined the Ameren UE Corporation, working at the Callaway County Nuclear Power Plant near Jefferson City, MO.

Keith was united in marriage to Karolyn “Kay” Erwin on April 29, 1967, to this union one son was born.

Keith was an avid golfer and St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa State Cyclones fan. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and his granddaughters who were the light of his life.

Keith is survived by his wife and best friend of 39 years, Kay, his son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Carol Young of Sugar Land, TX, his granddaughters, Paige Nicole and Kendall Kay, also of Sugar Land, brothers and sisters, Marilyn Hoops of St. Charles, MO, Ronnie and Bonnie Young of Memphis, MO, Kathy Young of Dallas, TX, Karen and John Fulks of Billings, MO, David and Rhonda Young of Kirksville, MO, and Mike and Kim Young of Kearney, MO, sister-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Wade and a brother-in-law, Larry “L” Erwin, all of Kirksville, MO. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, grandparents, his brother, Roger and his nephew Rob.

Memorials are suggested to Keith’s granddaughters’ memorial fund and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, MO 63555.

Private graveside services were held at the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO, October 30, 2006. Officiating was Rev. Terry Lippstreu. Arrangements were by Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis.
