Jerry Wayne Brookhart, 62, of Arbela, MO, passed away at his home on November 12, 2006.

Jerry was born December 27, 1943 at home in Arbela, MO.

At 18 months old, Jerry moved to Ottumwa, IA with his mother, Ruth Brookhart Fogle and stepfather, David Henry Fogle. He attended grade school and junior high in Ottumwa, IA. After returning to Arbela, in 1960 he finished his high school years in Scotland County graduating in 1963.

After graduating, Jerry worked for various farmers in the community. He later worked at the foundry in Memphis, MO. He entered the Army in 1965, gaining the rank of military policeman. He served in Inchon, Korea for two years returning home in 1967.

After serving his country, Jerry returned home to Arbela, and resumed working at the foundry. Jerry later obtained a position at MFA in Wyaconda, MO, then transferred to MFA at Kahoka, MO, where he worked for 36 and a half years.

In March of 1972, he married Enid Garrison. To this union two children were born April Dawn and Sherry RuthAnne.

Jerry was a member of the Arbela Baptist Church, where he was a superintendent for several years. Later he attended the Arbela Methodist Church and loved to sing specials each Sunday. Jerry loved people and always had time to visit with them. He enjoyed collecting marbles, glass pop bottles, and Coke and Pepsi memorabilia. He loved yard sales and attending auctions. He enjoyed tearing down buildings for people.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Brookhart Fogle, and his stepfather, David Henry Fogle; his mother and father-in-law, Glen and Beckie Aldridge Garrison; three sisters-in-law, Beulah Stutsman, Helen Garrison, and Irene Hyde.

He is survived by his wife, Enid Brookhart; his daughters, April Brookhart of Arbela, MO, and Sherry and husband, Jeff Campbell of Des Moines, IA; one sister, Jenny Coleman and husband, Mike of Des Moines, IA; four brothers, Bobby Fogle and wife, Teresa, Jack Fogle and wife, Becky, Richard Fogle, and David Fogle and wife, Geri, all of Ottumwa, IA; two sisters-in-law, Goldie Purvis of Council Bluffs, IA, and Darlene Steeples of Memphis, MO; one brother-in-law, Harold Garrison and wife, Wanda of Wyaconda, MO; two aunts, Kathleen Beeson and husband, Noble of Ottumwa, IA, and Violet Spear of Keokuk, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, between the hours of 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Downing, MO. Memorials have been established for the family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Downing, MO, with Carolyn Goyer, Pastor of the Arbela Methodist Church officiating. Music will be provided by Betty Anderson, organist, and Danielle Bair, soloist. Pallbearers will be Josh Fogle, Richie Fogle, Marion Steeples, Michael Steeples, Leon Hyde, and Darwin Purvis. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Bair, Bobby Bair, Lowell Gordy, Bill Wiley, Audrie Steeples, and Jim Woods. Burial will be in the Coffey Cemetery, south of Downing, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
