Clark County Spoils Lady Tigers Return

A 12-day layoff appeared to take its toll on the Scotland County Lady Tigers, who returned to action January 2 with 52-28 loss to Clark County in the opening round of the Highland Tourney.

SCR-I returned from Christmas vacation with the unenviable task of taking on one of the top ranked teams in the region. The Lady Indians remained undefeated on the season by shutting down the SCR-I offense.

Scotland County kept the game close in the first period, trailing just 9-7 despite a solid first period from Clark County’s top scorer, Courtney Shuman.

Amanda Winters poured in 10 points in the second period as Clark County went on a 13-4 run to lead 22-11 at halftime.

SCR-I continued to struggle on offense in the third period as the Indians expanded the margin to 35-19.

Daryle Goldie hit three, three pointers in the fourth period as Clark County outscored SCR-I 17-9 to secure the 52-28 win.

Jamie Fuller led Scotland County (6-3) with 11 points. Ali Fromm and Jessica Bair each had six points in the loss.

Goldie led Clark County (8-0) with 14 points. Shuman added 11 and Winters finished with 10 points.
