SCR-I Finishes In Middle of Pack At Putnam County Relays

The Scotland County boys’ track team finished in the middle of the pack at the 2006 Putnam County Relays held May 2 in Unionville.

The Tigers earned seventh place in the event by compiling 44.5 points. That placed SCR-I at the midway point of the 14-team field. Brookfield took first place with a team score of 157, edging Clark County (127.5) and Putnam County (105.5).

Kasey Parrish continued his dominance of the 1,600-meter run picking up another first-place medal by finishing in a time of 4 minutes and 57.66 seconds, a full 10 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Ben Rex of Milan.

The Scotland County relay squads took third place in the 800-meter relay and fourth place in both the 400-meter and 1,600-meter relays while finishing fifth in the 3,200-meter relay.

B.J. Houghton jumped the Tigers up in the standings, earning points in three individual events. The senior finished fifth in the triple jump at a distance of 36’2”. He was sixth in the long jump and also took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Andrew Duley earned seventh place in the 3,200-meter run. Matthew Glass was eighth in the 100-meter dash and Nathan Purvis was eighth in the 800-meter run.
