Brookfield Boys Claim Conference Track Title

The Brookfield varsity boys’ track team claimed the Tri-Rivers Conference title for 2006, leading the eight-team field with a final score of 209 points at the May 9th conference meet held in Brookfield.

The host team easily outdistanced second place Clark County, which finished with 161 points. Putnam County finished in third with 93 points followed by Schuyler County (74), Scotland County (55), Milan (51) North Shelby (19) and Knox County (12).

Casey Parrish continued his march toward the state track meet, winning another 1,600-meter race. He crossed the finish line in 4:48.01 to easily hold off Ben Rex of Milan who finished in 5:00.7.

Other top performers for Scotland County included senior B.J. Houghton, who placed in three individual events. He finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles. Houghton also earned fifth in the long jump.

Brett Sagerty finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Andrew Duley was seventh in the 3,200 meter run and Jacob Howard was eighth in the discus.

The Scotland County relay squads finished third in the 4x400, 4th in the 4x100 and 4x200 and fifth in the 4x800.
