Lady Tigers Finish Fourth At Conference Track Meet
Three top performances were not enough for the Scotland County varsity girls track team to unseat the league powerhouses at the Tri-Rivers Conference track meet held May 9th in Brookfield.
SCR-I amassed 81 points to earn fourth place. Clark County narrowly edged Brookfield for the league title. The Lady Indians scored 175.83 points to 175 points for Brookfield. Putnam County was not far off the pace with 160.33 points. Rounding out the field were Milan (25.5), Knox County (20.5), Schuyler County (7) and North Shelby (5).
Ali Fromm turned in a pair of first-place performances. The senior bested the field in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdle events.
Freshman Melissa Cotton took top honors in the high jump, clearing 4’10”. She also finished seventh in the 800-meter run.
Angie Bulen earned sixth place in the both the discus and shot put.
Tara Matlock was seventh in the long jump ahead of teammate Ashlie Cooper in eighth.
Kirsten Johnston took fourth place in the 400-meter dash. Jessica Bair was eighth in the event.
Andrea Shelley earned seventh place in the 200-meter dash and Valerie Oldham finished seventh in the 100-meter dash.
The SCR-I 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams took second place. The teams consisted of Fromm, Matlock, Oldham and Johnston.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Bair, Matlock, Ciera Turner and Johnston also took second place while SCR-I’s 4x800 team finished third.
