Double Features Draw Large Crowd to Show-Me Speedway

Show-Me Speedway in Downing finally prevailed over Mother Nature to enjoy a pleasant evening September 16th to run the track’s two final points races of the 2006 season.

Spectators enjoyed a regular night of racing to start the evening with all classes competing for points. The second race was a 20-lap feature with the drivers being lined up based on total points for the season.

A total of 53 entries signed in for the full night of racing. In addition to the full slate of karts on the tract, the large crowd of spectators also was on hand for the unveiling of the track’s new restroom facilities.

The final points race of the year in the Rookies class saw #37 Joey Hagar take first place followed by #39 Ben Bolden and #38 Kaitley Hagar.

Jacen Stotts drove the #12 kart to victory in the Junior I race, finishing ahead of #3 Tyler Griesbaum and #8 Rachel Shahan.

The checkered flag in the Junior II race went to #3 Wes Golden. Second went to #36 Teresa Hagar with #44 Andy Garrett in third.

Ashley Hutchinson piloted her #02 ride to top honors in the Stock Medium feature. She bested #22 Adam Baker and #10 Nick Seabold.

The Junior I Heavy class was a duel between #3 Tyler Griesbaum, #8D Daniel Beeler and #12 Mike Hudson with Griesbaum coming out on top.

Golden and the #3 made it back to victory lane with a win in the Junior II Heavy race. Second went to #38 Seth Shahan with #7 Mitch McClure in third.

The Stock Lite race was won by #33 Brent Williams who crossed the finish line ahead of #32 Tyler Hagar and #711 Rhea Golden.

David Kirkpatrick was the winner in the Masters Feature race besting #79 Dennis Thelen and #2 Jay Brush.

Rookie: 1st-#8 Dillon Hopwood, 2nd-#39 Ben Bolden, 3rd-#38 Kaitley Hagar

JR I: 1st-#8 Rachel Shahan, 2nd-#3 Tyler Griesbaum, 3rd-#12 Jacen Stotts

JR II: 1st-#3 Wes Golden, 2nd-#36 Teresa Hagar, 3rd-#56 Brittany Thelen

Stock Med: 1st-#02 Ashley Hutchinson, 2nd-#22 Adam Baker, 3rd-#32 Tyler Hagar

JR I Heavy: 1st-#3 Tyler Griesbaum, 2nd-#8D Daniel Beeler, 3rd-#12 Mike Hudson

JR II Heavy: 1st-#3 Wes Golden, 2nd-#38 Seth Shahan, 3rd-#7 Mitch McClure

Stock Lite: 1st-#33 Brent Williams, 2nd-#32 Tyler Hagar, 3rd-#36 Teresa Hagar

Masters: 1st-#2 Jay Brush, 2nd-#79 Dennis Thelen, 3rd-#48 David Kirkpatrick.

Even though the points season is over, promoters announced Show-Me Speedway will continue to race as long as the weather permits.

Races have been scheduled for Saturday, September 23rd, with hot laps at 6:00 p.m. and races at 7:00 p.m.

The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Linda Shannon of Granger for $66. T-shirt winners were Carl Hagar and Jim Hagar. Special drawings for the kids were held with numerous prizes donated by Special T Monuments and Payne Funeral Home.
